Just 16, Tegen is off to attend the Jnr World Surfing Champs in Japan. She is one of 4 girls and the only South Island girl in the NZ team. She has won 5 South Island titles this year alone and been highly placed in North Island competitions. A country girl, fearless Tegen’s sport was motorbikes, horses and skiing. She began surfing aged 11, gaining many titles – many well above her age category.
