Rose picked up a violin aged 8 and has been a dedicated violinist ever since.
As one of NZ’s top violinists in her age group, Rose has won multiple national and international awards including First Place in the Queensland Int Chamber Music Competition 2019 (U18s) and she was 1 of 6 Violin Fellows for the Michael Hill International Violin Competition 2023.
She has been awarded prestigious scholarships including the Dame Malvina Major Foundation Canterbury High Achievers Award 2021 and has performed as Concertmaster and Associate Concertmaster in numerous professional and youth orchestras. She plays on a Bergonzi Violin on loan from the Hill Family Foundation for Art and Music. After studying at the NZ School of Music, Rose successfully auditioned for an exchange programme at the renowned Kunst-Universtität in Graz, Austria. This Grant will help Rose study in Austria. She is working towards having a career where she can perform as a recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician, while teaching violin at universities. Rose looks forward to performing in NZ when she visits home and she hopes to support the future of classical music in Aotearoa throughout her career.
