From a musical family, 22 year old Jimmy enjoyed early success as saxophonist, singer and pianist, completing a degree in music and winning prizes. He has worked on nationwide NZSO tours, a CD with Shapeshifter, headlined festivals and written for high-profile groups. Jimmy recently achieved a rare postgraduate place at one of the world’s top jazz institutes in Amsterdam which this Grant will help with. His goal is to become a world-class saxophonist, educator, arranger and composer, while continuing to contribute to NZ music.
