Edward Lopas

Rowing

  1. Grantee | April 2023

From a highly successful international rowing family, Edward started strong, but in 2019 was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and had 6 months of chemotherapy. Dreams of rowing kept him going and with his CBHS rowing team raised $22,000 for cancer research. Back on the water, he was selected for the NZ U19 double skulls, and then the U21 NZ squad, and now at 19 is the youngest in the NZ Men’s U23 squad with national Gold and Silver medals. This Grant helps Edward to the World U23 Rowing Champs in Bulgaria before he takes up a sports scholarship at Boston University with his focus on the 2028 Olympics.
