17 year old Amelia has an extensive sporting history including swimming, athletics, triathlon, and as a Champion Oceania ice speed skater. Discovering a passion for cycling five years ago Amelia quickly rose up the ranks and has four national records under her belt. Selected for the Jnr world road champs in Belgium and Jnr world track champs in Egypt this year, COVID stopped her from attending. But it didn’t stop her aiming for the top – the 2024 (then 2028, and 2032) Olympics. This Grant will enable to Amelia to purchase a replacement road bike so she has the right equipment to ride competitively and safely. With her eye on the Jnr world's track champs in Switzerland and Jnr world road champs in Australia in 2022, Amelia continues to stay focused on national and world records. Just as important as representing New Zealand though is her goal to be a role model for younger riders.
