  1. Grantee | August 2018

Having previously achieved grants in 2016 and 2017 for his excellence in rowing, Matthew Mesman is a familiar face in the Inspire family.

But it was more than rowing for Matthew. His top grades at Canterbury University’s Engineering school led to this now 21 year old being accepted this year into the Mechanical Engineering program at the highly prestigious University of California Berkeley. And that’s when Matthew came back to the Inspire Foundation to help support his academic career for what Matthew describes as “building a rocket with some of the brightest and best”. The sky really is the limit! Now balancing a desire for a successful rocket launch with his global rowing wins, this self-described Kiwi kid is taking on the world. While an exciting future beckons, Matthew’s ultimate goal is to one day return home and bring world-class aerospace with him.
